Self Awareness: The Key to Becoming A Better Leader

Self-awareness is essential to becoming a better leader. It’s one of the most important traits you can cultivate if you want to succeed as a leader and impact others positively. After all, it’s impossible to lead others effectively if you don’t know yourself. Also, without self-awareness, it’s difficult to recognize weaknesses and strengths so that you can build upon your positive qualities and eliminate your negative tendencies. Self-awareness also helps leaders develop positive habits so they can consistently produce good results over time. Achieving self-awareness takes time and effort but the rewards are well worth it. A self-aware leader sees their own faults honestly but also sees their strengths clearly and walks away from poor decisions with maturity rather than feeling defeated by them.

They can address interpersonal issues by recognizing what’s going on beneath the surface of an argument and how to repair issues if needed.

How to develop self-awareness

 – Make a list of positive aspects of your personality you need to build upon and then make a list of the negative traits you need to address and then do something about it.

–  Another option is to enlist the help of a peer mentor, coach, or colleague who can give you a fresh perspective on your weaknesses.
